Snow-capped Scenery

Desert Camp to Jiayuguan
October 14th
111km (867m vertical)

Interesting scenery today, with an impressive range of snow-capped mountains to our right. The dull desert was further interrupted by several rivers and frequent trees (orange and red...fall already?).

We have a rest day tomorrow, making this our only 3 day stretch since early September. Its the last of the trip.

Tonight's dinner was not my finest ordering performance. We found a restaurant with a picture menu, but ended up with a platter of seasoned pork fat (looked like pork meat in the photo) and a stir-fry of mushrooms and chili peppers (which looked like beef and bell pepper on the menu). Found a supermarket on the way home and filled my hunger gap with chocolate-peanut butter Oreos. (Real Oreos...score!)

Loved the scenery today. Look! Real trees!
