Kecskemet to Szeged

June 29th
111km (253m vertical)

Loud neighbors in camp last night. Drunk local guys yelling and, literally, diving through 6 soot shrubs at all hours of the night. Actually, I suppose it was 10:30pm...but that is 90 minutes past our group's typical bedtime. We got revenge with our 6:15am wake-up.

Quick start to the day as I rode in a group averaging 30km/h for most of the morning. We're back on regular roads now and there are only flat fields around us, so its best to most quickly and try to beat the mid day heat. (It was above 80F before 7am today!!!) Got tired of the fast pace before lunch, when Yako started pulling at 35km/h. Cruised the rest of the day and finished with an average speed of 25.6km/h.

Got to camp at 12:30pm and rode straight past and into town for a giant banana split at a local cafe. Camp tonight is a bit rougher than the past days. We're under trees on uneven ground, but at least there is plenty of shade.
After dinner was a talent show, and several riders told jokes, sang songs, read poetry, etc. All very entertaining. I helped as a stage hand and occasional prop – such talent!

Your father played the triangle in the school band...so you come by your "talent" honestly.
