July 15th
104km (1,481m vertical)
Another fast paced day with lots of climbing. I rode alone again and averaged 26km/h, arriving first at lunch and the hotel.
The morning was flat and easy as we circled the bay around Burgas. Burgas itself was a big city, with lots of traffic. There were a few confusing turns, but the tour van was there to point me in the right direction. Randy was putting out red flagging tape for the other riders.
After lunch, the remaining 50km was one long climb into the tree covered hills. Nothing too steep, although it did get up to 95F so I found it tiring to push up quickly. There were 3 sharp downhill sections which were all followed by more climbing. The town we're in is up in the hills, so we should get a downhill sometime tomorrow.
Some of the group was going to have to stay in a mental hospital tonight, because there were not enough beds in the hostel. The hospital has too many beds so it rents them out. Apparently the hostel found more beds because we're all in the same place. Although it looks like a mental hospital. Five beds per washroom. The washroom is all cement, with a sink and toilet. The shower head is in the middle of the room and sprays cold water everywhere.
There were dogs parking for hours and hours last night, keeping all of us awake.
This photo is of a nice lake we passed on the way into Burgas:

Do they parallel park well...or always opt for the "pull-thru"?
